Chicken on salt – what does that mean? It’s actually nothing more than oven-roasted chicken laid on a thick layer of coarse salt, but this way it’s salted and seasoned extremely well and it’s incredibly tasty!
Chicken on salt
An incredibly tasty suggestion for a roasted chicken baked on salt – the salt not only enhances the flavors, but also preserves the moisture in the chicken, making it incredibly soft and juicy. By following a few easy steps, you can whip up this healthy whole-breaded chicken recipe for lunch or dinner in no time.
Necessary products for chicken in the oven on salt
- 1 chicken (about 1-1.5 kg);
- 1 kg of salt (sea);

- basil;
- lemon (optional).
How to make sea salt roasted chicken
You take a medium-sized chicken and clean it well, then dry it and rub it with pre-chopped garlic.
You thaw (but do not pulverize) the chicken and, if you wish, you can put in it a quartered lemon, a sprig or two of basil and other spices that you like. There is no strict way to apply the spices here, it all depends on your personal preferences.
You prepare a suitable tray, place a sheet of baking paper (you can do without it if you don’t have one) and sprinkle an even layer of coarse sea salt. On the layer of salt formed in this way, place the chicken with its back up.
Some make it by spreading the salt under and over the chicken, but we prefer the salt just under the chicken. Either way, you won’t go wrong. Bake in a preheated oven for about 1-1.5 hours at 180 degrees with a fan or at 200 degrees without a fan, or until the chicken is completely roasted.
Enjoy!
